Mark your calendar now for Sept. 18-20, 2008, as PLAY:stl descends again upon the Delmar Loop, transforming this hip strip into a music mecca for the weekend.
PLAY:stl enjoyed overwhelming success in its first year, which is
generating a great deal of publicity and excitement for the 2008
PLAY:stl and beyond. We are pleased to announce the second annual
PLAY:stl Music Festival & Conference, taking place Sept. 18-20,
2008, on the Delmar Loop, at venues including Blueberry Hill (both the
Duck and Elvis Rooms), Cicero's, Vintage Vinyl and more.
As with the debut festival, this year's PLAY:stl will again offer
opportunities for education and networking, with industry panels and
workshops, plus parties and other special events. Oh, and did we
mention the music? Look for another 100 or so acts to take the stages
over three days and entertain and amaze us all. Submissions will open
soon via SonicBids and AirPlay Direct.
Although intended to be a small, two-day organic festival its first
year, the combination of venue involvement, sponsorship and band
response led to PLAY:stl 2007 expanding to a three-day, nine-stage
event. Artist showcases, industry panels and informative workshops took
place from September 21 to 23, along with an invite-only VIP kickoff
party September 20. Over 200 bands from around the country submitted
bids to play, with 90 selected to showcase. Overwhelmingly positive
feedback forecasts an even greater lineup for the 2008 festival and
conference.
Our sponsors were overwhelmingly satisfied with their participation and
their sponsorship helped to provide capital, entertainment and media to
our first year. We enjoyed alliances with such outlets as Webster
University, 105.7 The Point, Boulevard Brewing, Miller, Warner Bros.
Films, City of University City, Mo., CheapTrx, Vintage Vinyl, Monster
Energy Drink, Po Boy Drums, Hot Sauce Records, Screenz Computing
Center, STL Sound and DiscRevolt.
