Even with solid critical reviews of Sea Trials, it's been Absentstar's frenetic live performances that have kept their buzz and fanbase growing. Derek Ingersoll frequently makes dives off the stage and into the crowd. With amplifiers turned up beyond necessity and drums demolished, Guitarist Marshall Hanbury Jr. has been referred to as a "captivating snake charmer" and drummer Heath Hamilton compared to Dave Grohl. While drawing heavily on influences ranging from classics like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, the Damned and My Bloody Valentine to more modern artists like Radiohead, Muse and Interpol, Absentstar continue to carve their own sonic niche.
